
Mohan Gyawali and Reena Gyawali न्यू योर्क- न्यू योर्क शहर भित्रको रिज्वूड शहरमा रहेका झन्डै एक हजार नेपालीहरुको कृयाशिल संस्था रिज्वूड नेपालीज सोसाइटीका संस्थापक अध्यक्ष मोहन ज्ञवाली हिजो साँझ न्यू योर्क शहरका कम्प्ट्रोलरद्वारा South Asian Heritage पुरस्कारबाट सम्मानित हुनु भयो। हरेक बर्ष दक्षिण एशियाली अमेरिकनहरु बिच समाजका बिभिन्न क्षेत्रमा बिशिस्ट योगदान पुर्याउने दक्षिण एशियाली ब्यक्तित्वहरुलाई प्रदन गरिने यो पुरस्कार पाउने ज्ञवाली ८ औं अमेरिकि नेपाली हुनुहुन्छ। कम्प्ट्रोलर विलियम सि. थोम्सन जुनियरले पुरस्कारको प्रशस्ती पत्रमा मोहन ज्ञवालीको कार्य र योगदानबारे यसरी उल्लेख गरेका छन्- “for founding the Ridgewood Nepalese Society to encouraged and support the Nepali American community in Queens; for preserving and protecting the culture and traditions of Nepal; for his award-winning achievements in the small business community; for training and mentoring a number of talented community-based entrepreneurs; and for his contributions to the South Asian American community and the life of New York City.” पुरस्कार ग्रहण गर्दै आफ्नो अवार्ड एस्सेप्टेन्स मन्तब्यमा ज्ञवालीले आफुले रिज्वूडमा बसोबास गर्ने नेपाली समुदाय र न्यू योर्कबासी सम्पूर्ण नेपालीहरुकोतर्फबाट पुरस्कार थापेको बताउँदै आफुले समाजमा शुरुवातदेखी अहिलेसम्म गरेको कामहरुको ब्रितान्त यसरी लगाए- Mohan Gyawali, Speaking at the program “When I first came to New York and settled with my family in Ridgewood, Queens in 1996, there were less than handful of Nepali Americans who live here, own business and houses. I am also proud to say that Ridgewood Nepalese community is one of the most organized groups among Nepali Americans in New York. In Ridgewood, we make every effort to support our community members and neighbours; we offer varieties services such as finding housing for new comers to information and education about financial planning, tax services, language services, health screenings, etc. for community members and language and cultural classes for our American born Nepali young children. We give great importance to maintaining our unique Nepali culture and traditions. After all, mosaics of world cultures make our city unique and the greatest in the world.” |
